And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, Deuteronomy 10:12
If a person is only religious and has never repented of their sins, they will not be able to do this. In order to fulfill what God requires, we have to repent of all our sins and forsake them and live a holy life.
Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
It is required of us to do what is right. When temptations come, we will choose either the right or the wrong. To do justly is to always choose the right. With God's help we can.
We need to love to forgive all wrong done to us. Be kind and compassionate with no grudges, bitterness, bad attitudes towards anyone. Is that always easy? No. But when the enemy comes with bad attitudes, get on your knees and pray and ask God to help you to love the person who has wronged you. Stay on your knees until you know God has helped you to forgive. Jesus on the cross, just before he died said "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34). He had no malice or get even spirit. He was extending mercy. With God's help we can, too.
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Ephesians 4:1-2
We are to walk worthy of the vocation. We are called to in all loowliness and meekness. We have to walk humbly with God.
Humble: not to think more highly than we out to think, dependence on,
Lowly: meek, modest, unpretentious
Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
Arguing, strife, contention, devisionns is only caused by pride.
Proverbs 28:25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
I Peter 5:5-6 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Submit: yield to authority or power of another, surrender and obey
Subject: one who is under governing ower of another
To rebel is to say "we will not have this man reign over us" ( Luke 19:27). The end of the person that would not let Christ reign over him was killed.. Don't let seeds of rebellion come in your life. Be clothed with humilty. God only dwells with the humble.
In Daniel 4th chapter, King Nebuchadnezzer had a dream. None of his wise men were able to interpretate it. They called Daniel and God gave Daniel the interpretation. Then Daneil told the King to break off his sins by righteousness and his iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor. If it may lengthen his peace - but he did not do as Daniel said.
A year later he was walking in the palace and said "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house o fthe Kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? (Daniel 4:30). While he was speaking God spoke from heaven and told him his kingom is departed from him.
He was drivien out form men and his dwelling was with the beasts of the field. He ate grass like an ox, his hair grew like eagles feathers, and his nails like birds claws. For seven years he lived like this.
Then his reason returned unto him. In Daniel 4:37 he says: Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
In Daniel 5th chapter Nebuchadnezzer's son Belzhazzar knew all this (Daniel 5:20-22) but did not humble his heart. But lifted his heart against the Lord of heaven.
God caused a hand to write on the wall "And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Daniel 5:25-28 In the night King Belzhazzar was killed.
We need to pay atention to what happens when people allow pride to rule their lives. Pride always goes before destruction and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Be clothed with humilty.
