Nehemiah 8:10b ... for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Unless our hearts says,"thy will be done' we will not have much joy. There has to be total submission to God's way. It is not enough for the mouth to say it, but the heart has to say it , not reluctantly.

Psalms 28:7  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Our attitude toward our trials and troubles is very important in keeping our joy. We need to be flexible and able to adjust (being pliable and not ridged) to situations that come our way. We will either submit ourselves to God in trials and keep our joy or not submit and be miserable. The "where one is' is not as important as 'what one is. “If there is murmuring, fretfulness, discouragement, doubt, unbelief, self-will, pride, or fear - it will rob you of joy and praise to God.

Life is what we make it. Your attitude is the secret of happiness, not circumstances. You control your attitude. Your feelings do not have to control your attitude. To refuse to meet the conditions of life as a joyful person is to invite unhappiness.

Deuteronomy 26:11  And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Philippians 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

When Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in the dungeon. They didn’t feel sorry for themselves. They were singing and praising God at midnight. Because of their attitude through the hard trial; the jailor and his household were saved.

Jesus, when on the cross, never lost sight of his purpose in coming to this world - to save sinners.

I Peter 4:12-13  Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Psalms 30:5...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Griefs, trials and heartaches will cause us to weep, but they should never cause us to lose the joy of salvation, or all the good things God has done for us or cause us to lose our soul burden. We can always rejoice because our names are written down in heaven.

Thessalonians 5:16-18  Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
